Sony XPERIA XZ3 recognizes in advance if you want to take pictures

 

Customer loss makes Sony Mobile a hit. Now the manufacturer shows new smartphones that are supposed to attract fans. A sneak peek at the new devices.

 

It's the phone that Sony fans expected half a year ago. At this time, the manufacturer showed the XZ2 - calling it "borderless" - and earned a lot of ridicule. The new XZ3 comes closer to the actual meaning of the word now and should mollify one or the other fan of the Japanese manufacturer with the chic and thinner design.

To call the design borderless, is almost true. The smartphone still has a forehead and a chin. If you hold it in your hand, they do not fall on big. What stands out is the screen. It is the first OLED screen Sony has ever installed in a smartphone.

Display and Battery Pack 

At first glance, this looks indeed convincing: Great viewing angle, high contrast, bright and sharp - it is a display that could fill the screens of market leader Samsung the water. It will be interesting to see what the "Displaymate" experts will say. These recently chose the screen of the Note 9 as king.

Although the screen is arguably the most important part of the smartphone, the technical data of a display should probably be a purchasing argument for the fewest customers. A more powerful argument could be the larger battery that Sony has built into the XZ3. This should also survive "use-intensive days", promises the manufacturer. 

The Automatic Camera

If you like selfies, there are now almost three times more megapixels available: the front camera now has 13 instead of 5. The camera on the back is identical to its predecessor. The clippers in turn has 19 megapixels. Improved, however, was the software. This is how the XZ3 recognizes when you pick it up and take a picture. If you hold the device across, the camera app automatically starts and shoots a photo.

In practice, the so-called side-sense function sounds as well. If you double tap the edge of the device with your finger - no matter if left or right - this opens a selection that should suggest suitable apps for the respective time of day. How smart these recommendations are, will probably only show a detailed test.

The Xperia XZ3 will be available starting October in the colors black, silver, green and bordeaux. The internal storage space of 64 GB can be expanded with a card by a maximum of 512 GB. The device is delivered with Android 9 (Pie).
